Presidential Preference Primary Results

& Elections Integrity Seminar

Registered voters in the city of Woonsocket cast their ballots at 6 polling locations for the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2nd. As of 8:00PM on election night, a total of 803 voters turned out to vote in-person Election Day, another 225 voted by mail and 64 voted early in-person at City Hall. The unofficial results can be found on the RI Board of Elections website at www.elections.ri.gov. Results can be viewed statewide, or results can be viewed by city/town.

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would also like to take this opportunity to notify the public that the Republican and Democratic City Committees will be hosting Secretary of State Gregg Amore and the RI Department of State Elections Division for an Elections Integrity Forum open and free to the public later this month. Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees welcome Sec. of State Gregg Amore for Election Integrity Forum

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would like to welcome Rhode Islanders to an Elections Integrity Forum hosted by the Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees in conjunction with RI Department of State Elections Division. This event will be held on April 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Woonsocket Education Center located at 115 Main St, Woonsocket.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s chief election official Secretary of State Gregg Amore and his report on the state of elections administration in RI. After a brief presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from state and local election administrators who can share their knowledge of the procedures that dictate how elections are conducted across the state.

This event will be an excellent opportunity for election administrators to better understand their constituents concerns and questions, as well as giving attendees a chance to hear the facts of election administration right from the source. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block has released a letter following the protests around campus in recent days. Block said in his campus message that the community is "reeling from days of violence and division" and that the hope is that "we can return to a place where our students, faculty and staff feel safe and, one day, connected again." Early this morning, Los Angeles police moved in to clear an encampment on UCLA's campus.        A bill to repeal Arizona's near-total ban on abortion is heading to the governor's desk. Two Republicans joined with all Democrats yesterday in voting to repeal the 1864 law that was upheld by the Arizona Supreme Court last month. It bans all abortions except in cases where it's necessary to save the mother's life.        Former President Trump will speak at the Libertarian Party's convention this month. His campaign confirmed Trump will speak in Washington, DC to "address concerns voiced by its members." Trump said in a statement that "Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country."        The Unified Command has recovered the body of a fifth construction worker who had been missing since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. The victim is identified as Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Salvage teams at the site of the March 26 collapse located one of the missing construction vehicles and notified authorities.        The national average for a gallon of regular gas is up slightly from yesterday. Triple A reports it's at three-dollars-and-67-cents a gallon. That's up two cents from a week ago and 14 cents more than a month ago.        One of the most exhilarating events of the sports calendar goes down on Saturday at Churchill Downs when the 150th Kentucky Derby commences. The Run for the Roses has a post time this year of 6:57 p.m. Eastern. According to CBS, Todd Pletcher-Trained Fierceness is the favorite at 5-to-2 odds.
