THE J. GEILS BAND TO HEADLINE AUTUMNFEST 2016
Danny Klein is one of the founding members of The J. Geils Band. This is classic J. Geils Band material with the unique sound that a group of veteran and talented musicians brings to it. Not your mama's cover band, for sure! Songs you will hear include: “Freeze Frame,” “I Do,” “Centerfold,” “Musta Got Lost,” “Love Stinks” “Houseparty” plus more.
Klein went to Worcester Poly Tech from 1964-1966 where he met J. Geils and Magic Dick. They formed a jug band, mostly acoustic music with Geils getting into electric guitar. He asked Klein if he wanted to play drums or bass. They decided on a washboard bass for Danny Klein and though the band went through "lots and lots of drummers," they eventually hooked up with ex-Hallucinations percussionist Stephen Jo Bladd and his vocalist, Peter Wolf. The formation of the official J. Geils Band began a long and historic rock & roll ride starting with 1970's self-titled Atlantic release, The J. Geils Band, up to 1984's You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd.
Danny Klein’s Full House will perform on the Main Stage, free of charge, Saturday October 8th at 7:30 PM.
Jeff Gamache, Autumnfest Chairman says, “It’s going to be a real house party with the music of The J. Geils Band on Saturday night. We are also bringing new and varied acts this year. Visitors to Autumnfest will be pleasantly surprised by the different talent.”
Panfilov Performing Pet Show makes their 1st appearance at Autumnfest this year. Panfilov trained dogs (Jack Russell Terriers) and cats have been performing for audiences around the world since 2000. Andriy Bilobrov, trainer of the dogs says, “This is the most intelligent, fun and entertaining dogs in the world. They will be happy to meet you and surprise you with their ability and desire to show real circus tricks.” Mayya Panfilova’s genuine love of her performing house cats radiates from every gesture that she makes during her show. Proving that it is not only possible to train these independent, self-absorbed felines, Mayya demonstrates that the training and performance must be built on a foundation of love, care and concern. Few shows have this level of talent to delight and entertain the entire family from Grandma & Grandpa all the way to the 3 or 4-year old. Mayya and Her Performing House cats are the big finish to this great show. Panfilov Performing Pet Show will have 3 performances on the Main Stage at Autumnfest on Saturday October 8th at 2:30 PM, 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM and 2 performances on Sunday October 9th at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM.
Also making his inaugural appearance at Autumnfest is Illusionist David Garrity. "IllusionQuest" is an exciting, family-oriented, magic and illusion spectacular! Illusionist David Garrity and his magic team appear out of thin air, pass through solid objects, perform lightning fast transpositions and may even make someone from the audience float in the air! The performance also features audience participation, situational comedy and is set to a custom-edited musical score! David has appeared on television, performed at hundreds of corporate events around the country and is a featured illusionist at Six Flags New England since 1992. David will perform on the Main Stage at Autumnfest on Saturday Oct. 8th at 3:30 PM and Sunday October 9th at 5:00 PM. He will also be making appearances on the Kidsfest stage Saturday and Sunday.
Autumnfest is held every Columbus Day Weekend (October 8, 9 & 10) at World War II Memorial Park, Social Street, Woonsocket.
New York police say the man who set himself on fire outside the Donal Trump trial drove from Florida to New York City earlier this week. The man had some papers with him that detailed conspiracy theories involving local politics. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
